#SOL17 Day 12: Grrrr, Winter

An Angry Haiku for Winter

If a snowstorm comes
And brings one more May school day
I'm gonna lose my mind

  1. I feel you. We had an unprecedented 10 snow days and had to add back days. If we'd added them all tot he end of the year we'd have been in school until July 3rd. We voted and gave up some work days & staff development days. We are hopeful that we are done with snow days for the year.

    1. Where do you live, Adrienne? We've had a weird winter here in Chicago: cold, but no measurable snow since early December. We thought we were out of the woods. We thought wrong!!

  2. I live in Chicago, so when I saw your post I was in shock. I didn't realize that so much snow has been forecast! ugh.

    1. I was in disbelief when I saw it last night, Leah. Let's hope the busses can get through and we can open tomorrow.

  5. Moving from NY to CA I sometimes miss snow days...but definitely not make-up days! Good luck with this latest storm.

    1. Thanks! It's a bit of an oxymoron, isn't it? I hope it's my last. :)

  8. Love this - I know most are ready to move on to spring, but we go skiing at the end of March each year so when we leave behind winter for winter, it's a bit easier—selfish, I know. When we leave spring behind, it gets a smidgeon tougher, but we didn't get much snow at all this year. Fingers crossed not too bad for you!

  9. Four to eight inches
Coming to us a few miles
    north. I love snow days.

(Sorry to disagree! Also another day to prepare for parent-teacher conferences on Thursday would be joyous.)

  10. I'm sorry you are already into your "make-up" days. It makes me feel bad for hoping here in central Ohio that we DO get a snow day on Tuesday. We haven't had one this entire winter because it's been so mild here. In a perverse way, because it's the first day of state testing, I'd love to have a snow day.
But rooting for you to not have one!

    1. I'm right there with you on the testing!! I'd be PRAYING for a snow day! We start testing in April, so no such luck.

  12. I always forget the complications of snow days. It must be miserable to extend your school year. I feel for you.
